Join the City of Poway and the Poway Midland Railroad Volunteers (PMRRV) to celebrate the return to service of the beloved No. 3 Baldwin Steam Locomotive, the only operational steam locomotive accessible to the public in San Diego County.
This is a free event, open to the community! Kids are encouraged to dress in their best “train” outfits (such as conductors, engineers, train riders or trains themselves!). Train rides available for a nominal fee.
Operating out of Old Poway Park for almost 20 years, the iconic engine last ran in 2016 when critical boiler repairs could no longer be delayed. The PMRRV, a non-profit organization, and the City agreed to jointly fund a new boiler so that this historical treasure, built in 1907, can continue to delight passengers for generations to come.
