Covid Vaccines for Patients

(Español)

Updated June 26, 2021

CPCMG has obtained limited quantities of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and we are planning regional vaccine clinics for eligible patients. This generally includes all children 12-years and older. CPCMG and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) strongly recommend all eligible children 12-years and older receive the two-dose series as soon as possible. The COVID vaccines have been used under the most intensive safety monitoring in U.S. history, which includes studies in adolescents. Check out our vaccine FAQ page for answers to common questions about safety and side effects.

Currently, we can only administer the vaccine to invited patients and their siblings who are 12-years and older. Invitations are being sent to families who live in ZIP codes with barriers to vaccine access. If you received an invitation to schedule a vaccine appointment, scheduling instructions are included in the invitation. If you would like to get your teen vaccinated and did not receive an invitation, please make an appointment at your local retail pharmacy or consider other scheduling options. We anticipate expanding our COVID vaccine clinics to other regions in San Diego and Riverside counties in the near future, but we do not have a specific timeline yet.

Vaccine Clinic FAQs:

Where will the CPCMG COVID-19 vaccine clinics occur?     Dates and locations are listed below. For now, only patients who received an invitation (and their siblings) can sign-up. Appointments for second doses will be scheduled for exactly three weeks after the first dose.

Saturday, July 10, 8 am – noon: CPCMG Centre Medical Plaza, 865 3rd Ave, #101, Chula Vista, CA 91911

Saturday, July 17, 8am – noon: CPCMG Murrieta, 25170 Hancock Avenue, Suite 200, Murrieta, CA 92562

Saturday, July 24, 8am – noon: CPCMG Santee, 600 Cuyamaca St STE 101, Santee, CA 92071

Can my younger child receive the COVID-19 vaccine?     There are currently no COVID-19 vaccines approved for children less than 12-years-old. We anticipate this will occur in late 2021 and will expand our clinics when that occurs.

Can adults receive the COVID-19 vaccine at CPCMG?     Unfortunately, we are only able to provide the vaccine to CPCMG patients. Most retail pharmacies (i.e. CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens) have plenty of vaccine doses and provide the vaccine to all patients, even without insurance. Also, check out these other scheduling options.

Which specific COVID-19 vaccine will my teen receive?     Currently, we only offer the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, as other brands are not approved for patients less than 16-years-old.

Should I have my teenager get the COVID-19 vaccine even with recent reports about myocarditis?   Yes. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and CPCMG pediatricians continue to recommend COVID-19 vaccination for everyone 12 years of age and older. The known and potential benefits of COVID-19 vaccination outweigh the known and potential risks, including the possible risk of myocarditis or pericarditis. Also, the rare patients diagnosed with myocarditis or pericarditis who received care have responded well to medicine and rest and have quickly recovered. More information is available on the CDC website.
