At what CPCMG office do you work?
I work at the Medical Center Court office in Chula Vista.
How long have you worked there?
I have worked at that office for three years.
Where did you grow up? If you didn’t grow up in the San Diego area, what brought you to southern California?
I grew up in Yokohama, Japan. I came to the U.S. as a college student. I stayed in New Hampshire for eight years and then North Carolina for six years. When my wife got a job in San Diego, I followed her here. My family is fortunate to live in such a great place!
Why did you decide to become a pediatrician? What attracted you to pediatrics? Did you consider other specialties?
I liked many of the specialties in medicine, but I felt happiest while working with children.
What do you enjoy most about working with children, parents and families?
I treasure the relationships I build with families over time. It’s amazing to be able to watch children grow and develop to be wonderful individuals. Kids make me smile every day.
Tell us about your family. Do you have children? What do you like to do as a family?
My wife and I have two delightful children, a girl and a boy. We like to go outside and visit different places. I also have fun reading to the kids and just playing with them.
What is some important life advice (beyond what you learned in medical school) that you can give to parents for their children?
Be a good role model. Your children are watching. Be patient and have a positive view of life always.
How do you maintain a healthy lifestyle? Any tips to share?
Make a habit out of staying active. I try to carve out some time to exercise on most days. Be sure to play outside with your family!
What are your favorite pastimes/hobbies? What else do you like to do in your spare time?
I like reading, table tennis and sightseeing.
